Internet Marketing Tips – The Square Circle
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: internet marketing strategies, internet marketing strategy, strategic internet marketingNo CommentsOkay, I admit it…this is going to be one of my more unusual articles. I’m sure if you take the time to read it, you’ll find some words of wisdom in it. Or maybe not. Either way, I can promise you that it won’t be dull. You may not understand it, but it won’t be dull. So sit back and prepare to find out all about the square circle.
Okay, so just what do I mean by the square circle? Well, it actually goes back to my days on this planet long before I even knew about the Internet. For that matter, I don’t even think there was an Internet to go to back when I first started thinking about my version of the square circle. And I’m not talking about the 1997 movie or the natural number constant or any of that stuff. I’m talking about how it applies to people and, in this instance, more specifically, to Internet marketing.
The square circle, to me, is the concept of trying to make something fit your idea of what should be simply because it’s easier than going about it the right way. I’ll give you an example of what I’m talking about. Let’s say that you’re thinking of making article marketing a part of your advertising strategy. You consult with the experts and they all tell you that the best way to go about it is to use your own domain, one that is descriptive of the niche, rather than to use a third party site like Blogger or WordPress.
The problem with this approach is that it requires the person to do two things that are going to cost some extra money. The first is getting the domain name, which is about $8 a year. The second, which is a little more expensive, is getting hosting, which can run about $5 to $10 a month. For some people just starting out, this is a lot of money. So they make sacrifices, even though they know that they’re not going to get results that are not a good. In other words, they try to turn that circle into a square.
What happens when they do this is that the square itself isn’t a perfect square. Why? Because it’s tough making a square out of a circle unless you know the precise calculations and have the necessary equipment. In this case, in order to make this alternative work, you’d need to optimize those blogs a lot better than you would your own domain because the blog URL isn’t going to fair as well with the search engines. So you’re working against yourself.
Take this same principle to something complex and you can see how trying to turn that circle into a square can turn into a total disaster.
Circles are circles and squares are squares…and never the twain shall meet.
To YOUR Success,
