The X factor of marketing. Does it exist? If it does, what is it? Is it the same for everybody? Can everybody get the X factor? I am here today to tell you that the answer to all the above questions is a resounding yes. And while it’s the same for everybody, it is also unique to everybody as well. If that sounds confusing, that’s okay. I’m going to clear up all the confusion very shortly and explain what the X factor is. Once you understand this, you’ll be able to take your business to the next level…wherever you may happen to be today.

Okay, so what is the X factor? Remember, I said it is the same for everybody and yet it is unique for everybody. And that should give you a clue as to what the X factor is. See, we all have our own unique personalities and skill sets. None of us are the same. But every successful person in this world, whether it be Donald Trump or Bill Gates has this one thing. And that one thing IS their personality. It’s their presence. It’s the confidence that they project.

Now, I know a lot of you are going to say that this is a lot of bologna. However, let’s take an example of what I am talking about and tell me if this is not true. Let’s say you’ve had a bad day and you’re going to a party. You’ve had such a bad day that when you get to the party, you’re not really happy to be there. You’ve got a sour look on your face. You’re brooding. Do you really think that anybody is going to walk over to you and say hello? Of course not. Now, let’s take that same party. You walk in. You’re smiling, dressed nicely, enthusiastic and you’re projecting a world of confidence. Do you think you’re not going to attract some attention from at least a few people?

The personality that YOU reflect in the business world will also influence how people react to you and your products. If you come off as somebody who is only out for the money, you’re not going to be as successful as somebody who genuinely shows he cares about other people. This has to come through not only in your personality but in your products and customer service. People need to feel that they can trust you. I’ll go one step farther. People need to like you…believe it or not.

That is the X factor. It is not something that can be taught. We all have our own personalities. We can choose to use them for good or for bad. I choose to use them for good everyday of my life.
