Internet marketers try to make traffic generation into some big dark mystery, but the truth here is, traffic generation is no mystery. There are really only two ways to generate traffic to your site, and that’s it. In this article, what I am going to do is briefly go over the two ways of generating traffic. After you’ve read this, traffic generation will no longer be a mystery to you. At least that’s my hope.

Okay, way number one to generate traffic…you pay for. Its that simple. If you have money, you use it and you go pay for your traffic. There are a number of ways to do this. You could use something like pay per click. Google AdWords probably has the most popular pay per click campaign on the Internet. In certain niches it is possible to get traffic to your site for as little as five cents a click. That is certainly not a lot of money, and this traffic is absolutely targeted to whatever it is that you’re selling. People will only click on your ad, if it is relevant to what they want.

The second way to generate traffic to your website is to build it over time. If you don’t have the money then you have no other choice. You have to do this manually. One way to drive traffic to your site over time is by writing articles. Submit them to directories and build your articles over time. It has taken me a couple of years to generate thousands of articles on the Internet, but it can be done. Another way to build your traffic over time is simply through a search engine optimization. This involves optimizing your website using certain keywords and phrases. Naturally you want to make sure that you provide your visitors with relevant content.

Now there are obviously more ways than the these that I mentioned to generate traffic. It comes down to you either pay for it or you manually generate it over time. There are no in betweens here. So stop making traffic generation such a big mystery. It’s not. Get out there and do it.
