Internet Marketing Tips – Treating Your Prospects Like People

When did everybody on the Internet get transformed from flesh and blood human beings to robots? Can you answer that for me? No, didn’t happen? Then why do so many marketers treat their prospects, or worse, their customers like non entities? Think I’m kidding? Did you ever see some of the horrible customer service that some marketers give you? Ever read some of the emails they send? Did you ever see some of the horrible sites they put up? You’d think that they were expecting to deal with morons. Well, if you don’t want your reputation to end up like some of these folks, then you might want to read this article on treating your prospects like people. It contains some tips that just might help.
Okay, here’s the first thing you need to do to treat your prospects like people. Stop showing them these sales pages that you’d be ashamed to show to your family. You know the ones that I’m talking about. The ones with all the wild claims and the tacky graphics. How about showing folks a page that you’d show your minister? Maybe then, you’d attract a better class of customer instead of all these guys looking to get rich quick.
Want another great tip? How about sending out newsletters that aren’t just sales pitches but good content that actually help people? You know, the reason people sign up to your newsletter is not to get pitch after pitch. It’s to be educated. If you’re not going to do that, you’re going about it all wrong. A real person doesn’t want to feel like he’s being sold to. He wants to feel like he’s being helped. Sending him one pitch after another is not the way to accomplish this.
Finally, I’ll leave you with this tip. When prospects send you emails with questions about your product or service, don’t give them copy and paste replies. Talk to these people like you really want to help them. Ask them questions in return. Find out what it is that they REALLY want to do with their business. You might find that they’ll not only thank you for it but they may actually buy something from you because they trust you.
It’s time to stop treating prospects like they’re coming off an assembly line. Otherwise, you can forget about ever earning their respect.
