We are getting very close to the end of our Internet marketing A-Z series. After this installment, only four installments left. Well, this article is going to hit the letter V, which stands for viral marketing. Viral marketing is probably the fastest way to get your business on the right track. But the question is, aside from what is viral marketing, how do we do it? Is there a best way? This article is going to go over three great ways to get your viral marketing act into gear.

First of all, what is viral marketing? Viral marketing is having word spread about your product or service via other people actually spreading it for you. In other words, after you tell just one person, that person tells many more people and it spreads like a virus. Okay, great…but how do we do this?

One way is by making a really outrageous video and uploading it to a site like YouTube. Once word gets out that this video exists, people are going to be viewing it all over the place. The views will start to mount up and ultimately, this will bring more and more traffic to your site as more eyeballs see it. The key is making the video something that people will want to talk about. No, it’s not easy making that kind of a video as there is so much noise out there, but if you can come up with a killer idea, you’ve pretty much got it made.

Another way is by creating a free ebook for people to pass around. Now, in order for them to do this, you have to give them some incentive to do it. Maybe pay them $1 for every person they get to download the ebook and opt into your list. This is something that has become a very common practice these days. As a matter of fact, I did one of these for a friend of mine and got 126 people to sign up for his ebook. That was $126 in my pocket and 126 subscribers for his list. So yes, this does work very well.

Finally, there is good old fashioned word of mouth at your local forum. Start talking about a topic in a thread. You have to be careful about this though because you don’t want to be accused of spamming. Let the topic naturally lead to a site of yours. Or have the site in your signature. If the topic is fascinating enough, plenty of people will begin to check the site out. If the site is cool enough, they’ll tell their friends. Eventually, the traffic you get will be amazing.

These are just a few of the many ways to get traffic to your site through viral marketing. Do it right and you’ll see a traffic explosion the likes of which you’ve never seen before.
