Internet Marketing Tips – Weeding Out The Tire Kickers

This is a subject that drives marketers crazy. We all deal with them everyday. You know who I’m talking about. The tire kickers. These are the people who will never spend on dime on marketing material a day in their life. They are looking for everything to be free. You never know who they are until they’ve penetrated your list and turned it into a sink hole. They’re like a disease that can’t be cured. Well, I have the cure for this disease. It’s a little on the drastic side, but trust me, it works. Keep reading if you want to figure out how to keep tire kickers out of your list forever.

The biggest problem with Internet marketing is the freebie. We use it to get people to opt into our list so that we can sell to them later on down the road. The freebie can be a report, a piece of software or whatever. We try to make it attractive enough so that people will opt into our list in mass amounts. We sometimes do such a good job of this that our lists grow to massive proportions. And then we do a mailing to our massive list and find out that our conversion is something like a tenth of a percent.

    What went wrong?

Well, the answer to that may very well be that you have a list filled with tire kickers. They saw the opportunity to get a free report and they jumped all over it. The problem is, that’s all they ever wanted and that’s all they’re ever going to get from you. Now you’ve got a ton of people on a list who are simply dead weight. So, how do we get rid of them? The answer is simple.

Instead of offering a free report, we offer a report for some ridiculous amount, like $1 or even $2. The people who are REALLY serious about getting somewhere with their business will look at this as a very cheap investment. Those who are not, the tire kickers, won’t even spend the $1. Thus, they will never get onto your list.

The key to this tactic is making the price low enough so that you don’t also discourage people who are serious about their business. With the flood of $7 reports on the marketplace, that price point may be a little too high. But I have no doubts that even going as high as $3 or even $4 will be little enough to get people to opt into your list.

Try it sometime. You might be very surprised at the results that you get.
