Internet Marketing Tips – What Are Your Expectations?
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: internet marketing strategies, internet marketing strategy, strategic internet marketingNo CommentsWe all have expectations when it comes to our marketing and running our business. Some may be reasonable and some may be not so reasonable. But who is to decide which is which? The purpose of this article is to get you to think about some of your expectations to see if maybe you’re not expecting too much out of very little. I believe this is one of the biggest reasons for failure and frustration in this business. I recently put this question forth at the Warrior Forum and got some interesting responses…not all of which I agreed with. I’m going to share with you my own feelings. You can come to your own conclusions.
First off, let me say that a lot of the problem with expectations in this business comes from the merchants who create products, sell them for next to nothing and then promise us the moon if we buy them. I think this gives people false hopes and I’m going to explain why.
Let’s suppose you see a sales page that is promoting a book on making money. The sales page goes on to say that by applying these principles you can make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. The book sells for $19.95. Now, let’s sit down for a second and reasonably work this out. Do you really think that a $20 ebook is going to bring us that kind of return? If the principles in it are so great, why isn’t this person using them to make all that money instead of making peanuts off of a book. I mean, even if he sold 10,000 copies, that’s only about $200,000, which is nothing close to hundreds of thousands per year.
At what point do we have to use a little common sense and say to ourselves, “To expect more than a supplemental income from a $20 book doesn’t seem very reasonable to me.” And yet, people buy into the hype and the pipe dreams everyday. What if we just looked at what was being offered to us and weighed its merits on what was actually being taught…thus making our own evaluation of what the info is “reasonably” worth.
If we did this, maybe, just maybe, we wouldn’t be so disappointed all the time when yet another $19.95 ebook didn’t give us the lifestyle of a Donald Trump.
As I said, this is just my opinion, but it’s one that has kept me grounded in this business and has made it so that I have been able to evaluate the info I was getting for what it was and not for what some hyped up sales page promised me.
