Internet Marketing Tips – Yes, Even the Gurus Burn Out

Yes, I admit it. Just recently…the month of May to be exact…I was burnt out. I didn’t want to do a thing. I certainly didn’t want to put in the hours that I used to. So guess what? I didn’t. I spent most of my time in the recording studio or playing video games. But after a while, being away from the daily grind, you begin to miss it. And here I am, June 1, back with a vengeance. And YOU can come back too.

You are not the only one who gets burnt out. Even the gurus have their moments when they want to just chuck it all down the poop chute, not that I am in any way a guru. But I am a successful marketer after over six years of slaving away at this business. Last year, I paid more in taxes than I used to make when I first started. It wasn’t fun…paying the taxes that is.

Okay, so how do you deal with burnout? Well, there is only one way that I know of. Take a break. Stop working. Go play some video games, or go into your own recording studio. Maybe you like to surf. If you live in California, go hit the ocean. Do anything but go back to work. I mean it. Here’s why. If you force yourself to work when your mind is just not capable of working, your work is going to turn out like garbage. Trust me, I know. This is especially true if you do any kind of ad writing, article writing, product creation, web design or anything creative for that matter.

Another thing you should do, once you get back to work, is pace yourself. Don’t put in quite so many hours. I work just a couple hours a day now. If I need to really put in a day’s work for some reason, I won’t put in more than the eight hour day that I would put into working in an office. No more 7 AM to 11 PM days for me. Life is too short. And besides, there are only so many hours you can keep your mind going at that pace.

Don’t worry…the work will get done. It doesn’t have to get done in a day either. Heck, Rome wasn’t built in a day, was it? And make no mistake about it, building a marketing plan takes time. So relax. Enjoy your life while you have it. Lord knows we’re only here for a short time.

Don’t spend it all slaving away at the computer.

    To YOUR Success,
