Well, we finally made it. We’re up to the last installment of our Internet marketing A-Z series. It’s the letter Z. I decided that I wanted to have a little fun with this one as well. Zip it actually has many meanings. We’re going to explore three of those meanings in this article. These are three things that no marketer should ignore. I hope you will find this article helpful and I hope you’ve enjoyed this series.

At the top of my zip it list is a good zipping program. I’m talking about something that can take your large files and compress them into one small file. This is a must have for any marketer who creates his own products. See, when you come out with something that either has multiple files or is very large, people with dial up connections may have trouble downloading them. By zipping them up, it makes life a little easier. However, there is another reason why you want to zip your files. While PDFs and other documents get indexed by the search engines, zip files do not. This makes it harder for people to find your stuff and illegally download it.

Another big zip thing is the zip drive. This is an external drive that you plug into your USB port. You can then download info to it, in order to transport it to another computer, or you can upload information from the zip drive to your PC. This is a very handy thing to have around. Even my wife uses one for her computer at school to transfer exam templates to all the teachers in her department as well as other things like plan books. No marketer should be without a zip drive.

Finally, and this is my favorite, there is the term zip it, as in zip the lip. I’m talking about keeping quiet when it’s appropriate. There are certain things that you don’t want to let out of the bag before its time, or ever in some cases. Marketing secrets are what give you the edge when it comes to promoting your products or services. If you’ve learned some technique that is going to give you an advantage over the competition, don’t share it with the whole world. Keep it to yourself. That is of course unless you’re in the information business like I am. Then you want to share as much as you can in order to gain credibility.
