In this installment of the real truth about making money online, I want to talk about traffic generation. There are a lot of myths and a lot of misinformation is being passed around in this area. So it’s about time I set the record straight on a few things. This article is going to do just that.

Here’s the first myth that I am going to blow right out of the water. There is no such thing as a perfect traffic generation method…no, not even Adwords. Yes, the Adwords “gurus” have been hawking this method of promotion as the be all and end all of traffic generation methods. For one thing, if you’re new to pay per click advertising, you’re going to make so many mistakes with pay per click that it’s going to end up costing you a fortune. And even an education isn’t a guarantee.

Another myth of traffic generation is that one method of promotion is going to bring you tons of traffic. Here’s a news flash. No one method of promotion is going to reach more than 50% of the Internet population. That’s right. Even Google…the largest search engine online…only reaches 50% of the Internet population. So, if you relied only on them to get you traffic, you’d be losing out on half of your potential customers. Think that’s not a lot of traffic? So don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

The last myth of traffic generation that I want to blow out of the water is that the only methods of promotion that are worth bothering with are the kind that you have to pay for. That’s a bunch of bull. One of the most effective forms of promotion that exist online today, is something that you’re actually looking at right now…and it’s free. It’s called article marketing. Yes, there is an art to it and you have to put in a lot of time and effort to make it work, but it is cost free and it is very effective. How effective? It makes up 67% of my monthly income. So learn how to write articles and market using them and you’ll be earning an income at no cost to you…period.

There are other things I could go over, but I’ll save them for another time. The point is, traffic generation isn’t perfect in any form and no one form is going to reach every Internet user. But if you use a combination of methods, even some free ones, you can reach more people than you can possibly imagine and not go broke in the process.
