There has been a very disturbing trend taking over the Internet when it comes to niche marketing that I firmly believe is killing the industry, and unless marketers do something about it, and fast, there isn’t going to be anybody left to market to. They will have all thrown their arms up in disgust and deserted our sales pages for good. If you want to know what I’m talking about, keep reading this eye opening article about how there is too little substance and too much selling.

Go to just about any blog these days and what do you think you’ll find? Well, here’s the Reader’s Digest version of what you can pretty much expect to find at just about any niche marketing blog, regardless of what niche it is.

“Hey, I was having this problem the other day and it was really driving me crazy. I didn’t know what to do about it. So I went out and did a little research and low and behold, I found this really great site at (insert affiliate link) that solved my problem in a flash. I really think you should go there and check it out for yourself if you’re having that’s same problem yourself.”

Sound familiar? It should. You’ve probably been doing it yourself. And what has it gotten you? Are you raking in the sales? Are customers beating your doors down for your products? Or are you finding that the bounce rate from your Google Analytics is something like 80%? If it is, then maybe you need to change your modus operandi. Here’s what I suggest, and it’s a radical concept.

Instead of posting a poorly disguised sales pitch on your blog, how about actually providing your readers with some great content? How about giving them article after article of great tips to help them with their problem. Then, maybe for every three or four posts, you put in your poorly disguised sales pitch. Of course you’ll want to disguise it a little better than you’ve been doing. Of course, even if you don’t, with all the content you’ve been giving people, you’re more likely to actually get them to buy something from you.

People are more experienced than they were years ago. They can smell a sales pitch coming from a mile away, even if it’s in a niche that isn’t normally associated with sales pitches. So do yourself a favor. If you want to increase your bottom line. stop trying to sell so much. Give your readers substance over sales.

You’ll find that it works wonders.
