Product Creation Tips – In a World of Mediocrity

In a world of mediocrity. Sounds like it would make a great song title. The problem is, with songs, you want to touch on things in a unique way. There is nothing unique about mediocrity. It is all around us. And when it comes to product creation, it is rampant. I can’t even begin to tell you how many IM related products I’ve purchased that were nothing but rehashed garbage. I’m sure you’ve been there too. Well, if you’re a product creator, or want to become one, you might want to read this article. It just might save your next product from being a mediocre piece of junk.

The best way to keep your product from being a pile of junk is to carefully do your market research. Look to see just what it is that your market wants. The best way to do that is to go to forums. There are plenty of them out there in each niche. Just hang out and listen to some of the questions that people have. That alone should give you some great ideas for products, provided that you have the solutions that they’re looking for.

Another thing you want to do is pay attention to detail when you’re creating your product and at least have a professional appearance. You can’t imagine the ebooks that I’ve seen that don’t even have a table of contents. I mean how hard is that? So please make sure your products at least look good. Presentation is so important with a product. I’m not saying there can’t be any meat to it, but even the best content, poorly presented, is not going to go over well with your target market.

Finally, you want to put your product out in as many formats as you can. Some people like to read. Others prefer to watch videos. Some people like to stick mp3 files into their Ipod and listen to them while they’re walking through the mall. The more formats you offer your product in, the higher the perceived value and the more sales you can make. Heck, you can even charge more for your product.

Bottom line is this. Take pride in your work. The end result will be more sales and happier customers.
