Product Creation Tips – Is Your Product Doomed From the Start?

I really do admire product creators. They put so much time and effort into creating their products. They take a simple PDF and turn it into a work of art. They then spin that PDF into audio, video and just about everything else you can think of. A $27 product becomes a $127 product… virtually overnight. But is that product doomed from the start before one stroke on the keyboard is ever made? Not sure? Then you might want to read this article. I promise you that it will be an eye opener.

Okay, why are some products doomed from the start? Well, there are two reasons. The first one is poor niche research. This is what trips most people up. They come up with this great idea. Well, at least they THINK it’s a great idea. Without even looking to see if anybody gives a rat’s behind about the idea in the first place, the product creator goes full speed ahead and cranks out his latest wonder. Then he puts it online to sell and… nothing. Hey, it can even happen WITH research, but when you’re just taking pot shots in the dark, your chance of failure is a lot greater.

However, the second reason is a little more subtle. See, sometimes we can come up with a great product idea, something that a lot of people want, but we create it in the wrong format. For example, let’s say we’re creating a product for golfers and decide to make it an audio book. Now think about this. Golf is a visual sport. In order to really get the most out of your instruction, assuming this is an instruction manual, don’t you think it would be better to have videos or at least a PDF with photos? An audio product for golf instruction makes no sense at all. As a result, the product fails right out of the gate.

Naturally, products CAN fail for other reasons such as faulty promotion or a poor sales page, but these aren’t problems with the product itself. These are problems with the medium used to promote the product and these can be fixed. When the product itself is broken… it’s broken… especially if the research part is left out or faulty. Remember, a product that nobody wants can’t sell… no matter how good it is.

So, if you want to give yourself the best chance of creating a product that will sell, do your research and make sure that people want it. Then, make sure you create the product in a format that people will want.

Believe it or not, it’s really THAT simple.
