Product Creation Tips – Low Or High End Better?
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online, Product Creation; Tagged as: create ebook, create ebooks, ebook creation, how to write an ebook, Product CreationNo CommentsA question I commonly get asked is this. “Should I create a low end or high end product?” Actually, it’s a very good question. Unfortunately, it’s not one that’s easily answered. Truth is, there is no pat answer to it. There are pros and cons to each. So what I am going to do in this article is cover those pros and cons and ultimately let you make your own decision. But let me say this up front. There is no reason why you can’t do both.
Let’s start with the low end product. For one thing, it’s easier to create as not as much has to go into it. A low end product (we’re talking digital now) usually sells for somewhere around the $47 mark. Some are a little higher in price, some are a little lower or even a lot lower. I sell products for as little as $7. These products are easier to create because they don’t take as long and don’t have as much information. Plus, it’s easier to sell a low end product to somebody who doesn’t yet trust you as a product creator. This is a great way to earn somebody’s trust.
However, the problem with selling low end products is that you have to sell a lot of them to make any kind of real profit. Think about it. If you’re goal is to earn $10,000 a month and all you have is a product that sells for $20, that means you have to sell 500 units a month. That’s not so easy to do.
Now, let’s look at high end products. A high end product usually sells for over $100. In the IM niche, most high end products go for $197 to $497 with some being has high as $1,997. As you can see, we’re talking about a lot more money per unit.
High end products require a lot more time to create. If you’re going to sell something for that much money, it better have a ton of information in it. So that’s the downside to selling high end products. Actually, it’s just one downside. Another is this. Your market is going to be smaller. There won’t be as many people who can afford your high end product. So sales will be less.
However, and this is the real advantage of a high end product, you don’t gave to sell nearly as many to reach your monthly goal. Let’s take the same $10,000 a month scenario. Let’s say you have a product that sells for $1,997. You only have to make 5 sales a month to reach your $10,000 monthly goal. So you see, there are huge advantages to high end products, not the least of which is that selling them really establishes you as an authority in your niche.
There you have it, the good and bad of high and low end products. Ultimately, the decision of what to create and sell is up to you.
Either way…there IS money to be made.
To YOUR Success,
