Product Launching Tips – Make Them Want More

In a previous article, I explained how to create that buzz. However, one of the keys to making your buzz phase pure dynamite is to do everything that you can to make sure that your prospects want more with each part of the phase. This can be accomplished by using an old trick that I learned from watching Flash Gordon movies back when I was a kid. I’m talking about the Buster Crabbe serials from back in the 1930s. These may have been primitive in comparison to today’s feature films, but they sure knew how to keep you hanging on for next week’s episodes. This article explains how this was done and how YOU can adopt this method.
No, I’m not that old but they used to replay the Flash Gordon serials on PBS TV when I was a kid. It was the only place you could see them. At the end of each episode, Flash, or one of his buddies, either Dr. Zarkov or Dale, would get into some kind of scrape that surely looked like it was going to end their life for sure. Some of them, you couldn’t imagine how they’d get out of it. And to be honest, some of the “rescues” were a little hard to believe, but we tuned in anyway…week after week. We just had to know if Flash was going to make it out alive. It was called the cliffhanger ending and it’s been used even until today.
So, how do you incorporate this into marketing and your product launch buzz phase? Very simple. Create a video on some topic. Discuss the topic at great length. And then, at the very end of the video, mention to your audience that there is a tactic that they can use that will…whatever. But then, tell them that they’re going to have to wait until the next video to find out what it is. If the subject matter up to that point was interesting enough, your prospects will have no choice but to tune in for the next video. You’ve got them hooked. The key, of course, if making sure you follow up with something that’s a little more believable than some of those Flash Gordon endings.
Trust me on this…by keeping your prospects hanging on by holding things back until a later date…you’ll keep them coming back over and over again.
And THAT is how you create a great buzz and product launch.
