The Keys To Success – Advertising, Education, Communication Skills

This is a second installment on a series of articles that I am writing on the keys to having success marketing on the Internet. In the first installment I covered customer service, honesty and planning. In this installment, I am going to cover advertising, education and communication skills. So I hope you’re taking more notes. These are still in my top 10.

I have told people this from day one that I have been online as a successful marketer. I don’t care if you have the greatest product and web site in the world. If nobody knows you exist, you are nowhere. Just having a web site does not guarantee that you will be successful. You have to get out there everyday and advertise. That means writing articles and submitting to directories, such as Ezine Articles; using pay per click, participating in forums and so on. If you don’t get the word out on your product, whatever it is, you aren’t going to make sales. It’s that simple.

The next key is education. This was my personal biggest stumbling block when I first came online. I had no clue what I was doing. I literally stumbled in the dark. It wasn’t until I realized that I had to get myself an education that I started to see success. Education, as far as Internet marketing is concerned, is very extensive. There are more things to learn than you can possibly imagine, such as advertising methods, product creation, how to use an autoresponder, how to write articles and ads, and on and on. Internet marketing may very well be one area where the amount of things you have to learn is almost equivalent to going to law school. Yes, it is THAT intense. But without it, you are dead in the water. Trust me on this.

Finally, I want to talk about communication skills. You can’t imagine how many people lack in this area. Well, I hate to say this but if you don’t have good communication skills you are not going to be very successful. And I’m not just talking about being able to write good articles and ads. What about when a potential customer emails you and has some questions about your product? Those who write back saying something like, “It’s all explained at the web site” aren’t going to make many sales. You must be able to communicate with people in a way that instills trust and confidence. And yes, this IS something that you can learn.

Advertising, education and communication skills are three very important keys to being successful online.

    To YOUR Success,
