Everybody talks about the real truth when it comes to Internet marketing and making money online. I myself have talked about it in a slew of articles and videos. But what is real truth? Yeah, I know…this article is going to get a little deep. But don’t worry, I promise that by the time you’re done reading it, you’ll understand where I am coming from.

Let’s start with a simple example. Let’s say that I declare that article writing is responsible for a good part of my income. Let’s say that I could show you all these stats on CTR and conversion rates on all the articles I’ve written. Yes, that would be truth, but it’s MY truth. Just because I earn a nice living from article marketing doesn’t mean that somebody else will do the same. They can, but there is no guarantee.

And therein lies the crux of the problem. See, many Internet marketers spout these absolutes about how if you do XYZ, you’ll make all this money. And they back it up with all these fancy facts and figures. I do it too. It’s part of marketing. We have to show something that validates what we do. But true statistics only tell part of the story.

What about the skill level of the person doing XYZ? Does that have anything to do with it? What about any money that’s invested? What about the niche itself? Do some things work in some niches but not in others? There are so many variables involved in Internet marketing that it would be impossible for any marketer to account for all of them. But if we were to declare these things in our sales pages, would anybody buy our products?

Do you see where I am going with this? In essence, I am calling out the entire industry. I’m not saying that marketers lie. What I am saying is that they don’t fully disclose every little detail about whatever it is they’re selling. And this is true in all niches. Take a look at all those diet ads. Do you really think it’s as easy as they say? If it was, why are there so many people still overweight?

So let me put it to you as clearly as possible. There is no real truth because there are no absolutes. The only absolutes are laws and/or terms of service of sites. But as far as earning a living online and what techniques work or don’t work, they are going to vary with each person.

Maybe that IS the one truth of which we can all be certain.
