Traffic Building – A Little At A Time

It boggles my mind when I run into people who say to me, “Steve, can you give me ONE method of traffic generation that is going to give me a flood of traffic all at once?” Now, at the risk of incurring the wrath of every marketer out there that thinks that they have stumbled upon the holy grail of traffic generation, let me tell you something that you aren’t going to want to hear.

There isn’t ONE method of traffic generation that is a slam dunk knock ‘em out of the park home run. It just doesn’t exist. You can refuse to accept that and continue to look for your magic pill or you can read the rest of this article and discover how to build traffic to your site slowly over time using a variety of methods, because believe it or not, that’s what it’s going to take.

If you get yourself a book on advertising online, and there are plenty of them, with the exception of the ones that just concentrate on a specific method, like Adwords for example, they all go over multiple means of getting people to your site. You know why that is? Because it takes a tremendous amount of work to generate traffic to your site and one method isn’t going to do it. Yeah, I know, you don’t want to hear this, but it’s true.

That’s why, if you ask many of the top marketers online how they promote their business, they will tell you that they use a variety of sources, such as Adwords, social bookmarking, web 2.0, article writing and so on. They are literally spread all over the Internet using a number of methods. They do this because they know if they use just ONE method that there is a chance that the method in question may not be as effective as it once was.

For example, at one point in time, Squidoo was a great way of marketing online. But then one day a bunch of marketers who decided that they didn’t have to play by the rules, turned Squidoo into a spam playground. As a result, Squidoo dropped out of favor with Google and they haven’t been as effective since. So anybody putting all their eggs into the Squidoo lens basket was going to get hit hard by this.

So if you’re smart, and I know you are, you’ll use as many sources of advertising as you can find that are effective. If you don’t know what’s out there, in my signature you’ll find a resource that will give you the good and bad of just about every source of traffic generation out there so you don’t end up wasting your time.

There is no slam dunk in traffic building. But a little at a time works wonders.

    To YOUR Success,
