Video Marketing Tips – Give Me That Filet of Fish
No CommentsI’m sure you’ve seen that hilarious McDonald’s commercial with the fish mounted on the wall singing “Give me that filet of fish.” You know, my wife said to me, while she loves the commercial and laughs herself silly every time she sees it, it doesn’t make her want to go out and get a McDonald’s fish sandwich. This got me wondering. Do other people feel the same way? And if so, what’s the point of the commercial? Well, this article is going to try to explain in a way that will hopefully help YOUR video marketing efforts.
First of all, I am sure there are going to be people who will see that commercial and go out and try the fish sandwich, not so much because of the commercial but probably because they are regular or semi regular McDonald’s goers and upon hearing that they have this new product, will give it a shot. Then of course there will be those who will be so taken in by the commercial that they’ll go to McDonald’s just to sing that stupid song to the counter person. Trust me, I have a friend who did just that.
Ultimately though, it’s all about branding and making people talk. The commercial is so outrageously stupid that you can’t help but talk about it. This viral effect has caused many folks to post this video up on YouTube for all the world to see. McDonald’s got the ball rolling and the world did the rest. With mediums like YouTube, this is very easy to do.
Okay, so how do you fit into all this? Well, imagine you came out with a video that was so totally off the wall that people started talking about it and spreading it around. It wouldn’t even have to be a video promoting one of your products. However, if it was appealing enough and enough people talked about it, ultimately, it would end up getting YOUR name or company name out there. This can lead to more sales as people get to know you…without even pitching anything.
There are ways to go about putting together such a campaign. You need to be subtle. Combine a crazy video with a free giveaway and you’ll be surprised what that can do for your business.
