A question I often get asked is this. “How many videos do I have to make in order to have a successful video marketing campaign?” Well, the simple answer is, as many as you can. But this isn’t always the case because quite honestly, it depends on the video itself, the niche you’re in, what you’re selling and how much information you need to share in order to make the sale. In other words, there is no stock answer to this question. So what I am going to do, in this article, is give you a few examples of campaigns so you can see what works for each.

There is one famous video marketing campaign on the Internet for a blender. I’m sure you’ve heard of it. The premise of each video is that the demonstrator asks the question, “Will it blend?” He then goes to put all sorts of insane objects into the blender in order to see if they’ll blend. Most of them, you’d never actually use in real life. The video series is quite long. Each video blends a different object. Now, I don’t know if just one video showing the blender blending a tire iron would have been enough to sell this thing, but the fact that there are so many videos, blending so many incredible objects, can’t hurt. I am sure this item sells like hot cakes.

And then you have something like a trailer for a new movie. Okay, sure, sometimes they’ll have different versions of the trailer, maybe as many as three or four, but many times, there is just one trailer. Do you think, if the trailer is exciting enough, that it will have any problems getting people to see the movie? I know personally that I’ve gone to see movies based on just one trailer. So this would be an example where just one video is all that’s needed in order to make the sale of the product. If you have very little to say and what you say is so powerful that nothing else is needed, then one video should do the trick.

Of course you have what I call instructional videos. These videos serve the purpose of teaching your prospects a little bit about your product with each video. The more you teach, the more likely you’ll convert the viewers to buyers. Of course you have to make sure you don’t give away so much info for free that there is no need to buy the product. This is a balancing act that every marketer must learn.

So as you can see, there is no one number of videos that makes a successful marketing campaign. There are many factors involved and each one has to be looked at in order to come up with a video series that will do the job…whether it’s one video or a hundred and one videos.
