Video marketing is totally where it’s at today. Problem with a lot of marketers is that they’re petrified to even try to put one together. Well, if you script out your video and practice it before you actually put it on film, you’ll do a much better job. Don’t know anything about scripting a video? Not a problem. This article is going to give you some basic steps on how to go about doing just that. Once you learn these, you’ll be on your way to becoming a video king in no time at all.

What you want to do at the start is make an outline. Let’s say for example that you want to make a video about how to set up an AdWords account. Okay, great. What’s the first step? You don’t have to go through the actual how to instructions of the step itself, but make that the first entry in your outline. Let’s say it’s, signing up with AdWords. So the first entry would be “signing up with AdWords intro” where you would introduce the topic. The second entry might be “The signup process” where you walk through the actual steps. The next entry might be, “signup pitfalls to avoid” where you warn about common mistakes made during the signup process, and so on.

After you have your outline complete for the entire video (it may be quite long depending on how many things you’re talking about) the next step is to go back to the very beginning and actually write the dialogue for each step in the outline itself. Yes, you want to write it down so that you’re not stumbling over your words while making the video. Not only that, you want to try to either memorize it or have cue cards made for it. The more polished the production is, the better it will be in converting prospects into customers.

Finally, you want to do a dry run of your script in front of the camera to see how you look on film. Some people just don’t film well. Get opinions of others who can be objective before you actually release the video.

A well scripted video can mean the difference between an ad campaign that works and one that fizzles right out of the gate.
