Video marketing is all the rage. Everybody and their grandmother is doing it. Problem is, have you seen some of the videos that are out there? Can you say BORING? I know I can. And the sad part is, videos today don’t have to be boring…not with the technology that we have. Well, if your videos are putting people to sleep, you might want to jot down some of these tips. They will greatly help you to keep your videos exciting and fun to watch.

First thing you might want to do is have a great intro. One way to do this is with some cool music. There is plenty of royalty free music that you can get online to use for your video. Have the music playing over a title slide. Make the slide itself as visually appealing as possible. With Powerpoint, you can even create scrolling credits that you can start your video with. Just make sure that you grab the viewer’s attention right away. This is a great way to do it.

Next thing you want to do is make sure that you display a strong screen presence. When you speak on film, you want to speak with authority. After all, you’re speaking about something that you know a great deal about. So show people what you know. Oh, and make sure you dress properly. You want to put out there a professional appearance. This doesn’t mean that you have to wear a suit and tie. If you’re giving tips on construction, then dress like a construction worker. In other words…fit the part.

Finally, and this is the most important part, you want to mix it up. In other words, you don’t want people to just be looking at one static scene through the whole video. If you’re going to speak all the way through, film yourself from different angles so that it gives the viewer some variety. You might want to try mixing in your speaking along with some slides. This will give people a break from looking at you the whole time. You might even want to change the location of your scenes.

All of the above will help in keeping your viewer’s attention. And when you do that, you give yourself a better chance of selling them on your product when it’s all over with.
