    When making videos for marketing purposes, you want to make sure that the video you make and the message it’s conveying fits the niche that you’re targeting. This is something that is so subtle at times and yet many marketers don’t get it. This article is going to give some examples and hopefully with those examples you’ll get a pretty good idea of just what I’m talking about.

    Without a doubt, the best education that anybody could possibly want to get for creating marketing videos is through watching TV. You can watch those long drawn out infomercials, and really get an education, or you can just watch those 60 second gems between segments of Murder She Wrote, or whatever the show is you happen to be watching at the time. You’ll notice that the mood and theme of the commercial usually fits the product or service being sold.

    For example, have you seen those Liberty commercials? You know, the ones where the guy at the end says, “We can help you live a better life.” Have you noticed that the tone of the commercial is serious but not dire. It gives one hope. It doesn’t depress them but at the same time, you don’t have the guy jumping through hoops and wearing party hats. The commercial brilliantly fits the sentiment and the message that the company is trying to get across.

    On the other hand, have you ever seen the commercials for the WWF? Wow, now that’s what I call some wild action. I don’t even know what the folks are saying half the time because all I’m watching is these huge wrestlers throwing each other around. And of course the voiceover is totally over the top. The louder the guy talks, the more hyped up the viewer gets. At least that’s the intent. Now, you wouldn’t have some guy promoting wrestling with some laid back voice saying, “Watch the WWF tonight at 10″. The guy would be laughed off the set.

    I know you’re probably saying, “Steve yeah, this stuff is obvious.” But is it? Can YOU do it? Can you look at the video that you want to do and say for sure that it is going to match the message that you’re trying to get across? These guys make it look easy because they KNOW what they’re doing.
