There is no question about it…people love to take paid surveys. I mean, why not? Who wouldn’t want to get paid for giving their opinion on something? Well, the problem is, there is a HUGE problem with taking paid surveys online. Actually, there are several huge problems. I am going to cover the most common ones in this article so that you at least know what you’re getting yourself into before you begin.

Problem number one, and probably the biggest one, is that what people don’t realize is that you have to first qualify for even taking these surveys. In many markets, unless you are in a specific demographic, you’re not going to even qualify. Problem is, the qualification process is almost as long as some of the surveys. You have to answer all these questions about yourself, some of which can take up to 15 minutes of your time, only to find out at the end of it all that you don’t qualify. This is very frustrating to say the least.

Another big problem is what these surveys actually pay. Each company has a different pay scale and for that matter, a different way of paying. Some will give you points that you can cash in for money. Problem is, what looks like a lot of points (100 per survey) ends up getting you all of one cent in pay. When you add up all the points, and all the surveys you had to complete just to make $10, your hourly pay comes out to something like two cents an hour. And some companies don’t even pay you in cash but only in rebates and other non cash prizes. For those looking to actually make some money, this can also be very frustrating.

And then there is the problem of finding survey companies that are legit. Unfortunately, as with everything else in this world, there are companies that never pay. It happens. Ultimately, these companies get reported and shut down, but until that happens, you’ve wasted your time on something that turned out to be for nothing. This may be the most frustrating thing of all.

So if you’re going to get into taking paid surveys, at least know what you’re getting yourself into and do your research first.
