Allen Says, the owner of the Warrior Forum, is at it again. In a recent article that I wrote, I told you about the new Warrior Forum banner ads that appear at the top of the page of the forum itself. Well now, Allen has come up with something else…text ads. I’m going to fill you in on what they are, how you can get them and what the cost. I’ll also give you my personal opinion on these new text ads. I think you will find this interesting reading.

Okay, the text ads themselves are a block of three ads that appear under the initial post in a thread. There are some very strict requirements for these ads so if you’re going to use them, you’re going to need to know what they are.

For the title of the ad itself, you can only have a maximum of 45 characters. So you better brush up on your copywriting skills if you’re going to come up with something that is going to get the attention of the members at the forum. The URL that you use for the ad MUST be a short URL. You can’t have one of these super long URLs that you see floating around all over the place. That means, if you have to use a redirect, like Tiny URL, do it. For the ad text itself, you get a maximum of 3 lines, 45 characters per line. Again, better brush up on your copywriting.

As for the cost of these ads, currently there are two payment options. You can get an ad for a day for 30 US dollars. The only other option is for one week for 200 US dollars. So if you buy an ad for a week, you save a whole $10. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but if you bought an ad for each week of the year, that’s a savings of $520 over the course of the year. Not too bad.

Okay, so what do I think of these text ads? I think you need to test them to see if they work for YOU. Not every offer is going to be an attention grabber. You may not have the copywriting skills to pull 3 line ads off, unless you have a lot of experience with Google PPC. The only way you’re going to find out if these ads are worth it is to try one for a week. One day isn’t enough to tell. You have to give them time.

Once again, Allen Says continues to think of new ways to give members a chance to advertise on his forum. For that, I tip my cap to the man.

He’s always on the cutting edge.

Well, all I can say is that this has been LONG overdue. In case you haven’t heard, the Warrior Forum is in the process of a cleanup. If you don’t know for what, then keep reading this article. It is going to be a real eye opener for a lot of people.

One of the main attractions of the Warrior Forum is the WSO section. For those who don’t know what that is, it stands for Warrior Special Offer. This is where you can offer a product that YOU created to the membership as long as it is for a price that is LESS than what the general public can get it for. It’s a pretty simple and straight forward system. Unfortunately, because of certain products and practices, the cleanup has been long overdue and is now taking place.

Okay, so what products and practices are we talking about? Well, before I get into that, let me start off by saying that this list is by no means all inclusive and could increase at any time. Don’t expect it to get smaller though. For the most part, any product that advocates breaking another site’s TOS is no longer allowed to be sold at the forum. This means products that advocate the use of proxies to get around a site’s rule of only one account, automated spamming of links to forums and other sites, and other related services.

They are also going to be cracking down on the actual ads themselves as far as income claims. I’m not sure how strict this is going to be enforced but my guess is that any WSO that says “you can make $X” is not going to be allowed any longer. Naturally, this will probably be taken on a case by case basis.

Okay, so what does this all mean? Well, for starters, it means that people selling products that break TOS of various sites are now out. They’re going to have to peddle their wares elsewhere. But what about the “how to make money” stuff? What about all that salescopy with the income projections, claims or whatever? Well, this is where a product creator is going to finally have to learn how to write good copy without resorting to a lot of hype. And that is what’s going to separate the men from the boys.

No doubt, this is going to kill a lot of peoples’ incomes. At least as far as their sales from the Warrior Forum goes. But in my opinion, this is the smart move. The better quality of product that gets sold there, the better the reputation of the place. In turn, this will attract people to the forum who might have otherwise stayed away.

Like I said…this was long overdue.
